Meditation doesn’t have to be complicated. If you’re new to it, the key is to keep it simple and gentle with yourself.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

1. Find a Quiet Space:
Look for a peaceful spot where you won’t be disturbed for a few minutes. It can be your bedroom, a cosy corner, or even outside in nature.
2. Get Comfortable:
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. You can sit on a chair, a cushion, or just lie on your back. It doesn’t matter how you sit, as long as you feel relaxed.
3. Close Your Eyes and Breathe:
Gently close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Focus on your breathing. Feel the air coming in and going out. If your mind starts to wander, just gently bring your focus back to your breath.
4. Let Go of Thoughts:
It’s normal for your mind to race with thoughts, especially when you first start meditating. When this happens, don’t worry or try to stop them. Just notice the thoughts and let them pass, like clouds in the sky. Keep bringing your attention back to your breath.
5. Start Small:
You don’t need to meditate for long periods at first. Start with just 5 minutes a day. Once you feel more comfortable, you can slowly increase the time.
6. Use a Timer or Guided Meditation:
If it helps, set a timer for the length of time you want to meditate. You can also follow a guided meditation (I have some on my YouTube channel!) if you want a little extra support.
7. Be Patient:
Meditation is a practice, which means it gets easier the more you do it. Be patient with yourself and try not to judge your experience. Some days will feel more peaceful than others, and that’s okay.

Meditation is about finding stillness and peace within. It’s a way to connect with yourself and recharge your mind and body. Take your time and enjoy the process.
I hope this guide helps you start your meditation journey!
